Description
Focuses on both the cartoon-like critters and funny mascots that populate the shoujo (girls') style of manga and the more gritty and Gothic animals that inhabit the shounen (boys') style of manga. This book focuses on both the cartoon-like critters and funny mascots that populate the shoujo (girls') style of manga and the more gritty and Gothic animals that inhabit the shounen (boys') style of manga. The book is organised in three sections: Part 1 investigates just what manga style is and includes chapters on the basic structure and anatomy of manga-style heads, faces and bodies; cute monsters and mascot creatures common to manga and anime; and mastering more advanced manga techniques. Part 2 looks at Japanese manga creatures, both real and mythological. Each animal profiled will include a more realistic manga style drawing of the animal as well as a more cartoon-like version of the animal. Part 3 is comprised of step-by-step demonstrations that take an initial drawing from start to finish.
