This book continues the author's recollections of his youth which began with: Little Britches, published 1950. It tells of his experiences shortly after World War I as a Kansas livestock dealer. But it is also the story "of the people who had the courage and fortitude to wrest a livelihood from that land of killing droughts, searing heat, and violent storms."
