Description
"This novel 'deals with the lost generation of Americans who had fought in France during World War I and then had expatriated themselves from the America of Calvin Coolidge. The story is told by Jake Barnes, rendered impotent by a war wound. Lady Brett Ashley, a typical representative of the "lost generation," is divorcing her husband and diverts herself by her friendship, which sometimes seems like love, for Barnes. These two go to Spain with a group that includes Michael Campbell, whom Brett plans to marry; Bill Gorton, a friend of Jake; a Greek nobleman; and Robert Cohn, an American-Jewish writer.'"
