Description
Join former college roommates Molly Ferris, Laura Donovan, and Carol MacCallan as they reunite to open a bakery in bony Loch Mallaig, Michigan, a place where the iconic sounds of Great Highland bagpipes fill the air, kilts never go out of fashion, and mysteries surface with curious regularity. Undaunted when they discover that the only retail space available in the charming Gaelic town is a former funeral parlor, event planner Molly, NYC chef Laura, and retired math teacher Carl bravely fire up the Scottish bakehouse of their dreams, Bread on Arrival, in the old Victorian mansion. Powered by friendship, moxie, and plenty of tasty Scottish treats, the Bakehouse Three tackle every challenge that arises--including unsolved murder. From rekindling auld alliances and sparking new ones to chasing cryptic clues wherever they lead, the fiftysomething women prove that it's never too late to embark on a fresh adventure. - publisher
Description
Picturesque Loch Mallaig, Michigan, is in the throes of summer love--at least at the luxurious Castleglen resort, where a Scottish romance novel convention has attracted aspiring writers, renown editors, and best-selling authors. Setting hearts especially aflutter is handsome cover model Gregory Gregg, and Bread on Arrival bakehouse owners Molly Ferris, Carol MacCallan, and Laura Donovan get the chance to swoon over Gregory in person when he stops by their bakery. However, their memorable interaction with the charming Scot makes it especially heartbreaking when, on the first day of the convention, Molly discovers Gregory dead in his resort suite. Local police suspect murderous intentions in Gregory's death, and their sights unfortunately fall on the Bakehouse Three's college friend, Patsy Mae Wallace, an unpublished novelist attending the conference. Molly, Carol, and Laura resolve to solve the case and clear their friend's name, but their labor of love is rife with roadblocks. As the convention continues, increasingly sinister events befall the attendees, casting an ominous cloud over the affair. The Bakehouse Three pursue lead after leads all over the Upper Peninsula, hoping their efforts have the desired effects of exonerating Patsy Mae and preventing more untimely deaths--but they wind up with more questions than answers as they try to untangle a wicked web of deceit. - publisher
