Description
Esther Summerson or rather Esther Hawdon is the illegitimate child of Lady Dedlock and Captain Hawdon. Esther is the ward of Mr. Jarndyce and lives with him at Bleak House. Mr. Tulkinghorn, Lord Dedlock's lawyer, gets wind of Lady Dedlock's secret past; and when Tulkinghorn is murdered, Lady Dedlock is suspected, disappears and is later found dead.
