Description
Clym Yeobright returns from Paris to open a school on Egdon Heath, and in spite of the opposition of his mother, marries Eustacia Vye, a pleasure-loving girl. Mrs Yeobright walks over to her sons cottage and finds Eustacia entertaining her lover. Clym finds his mother unconscious and dying of an adder bite. Clym learns enough to blame his wife, who drowns herself.
