Description
Wonder where to go hiking in Indiana? Author and naturalist Alan McPherson has answered that question with his latest guide book Indiana Best Hikes. Indiana Best Hikes addresses the 'where' and 'what' of the best hiking places in Indiana. The subtitle of this hiking guide could easily be A Guide to 106 Places and over 200 hiking trails in the Hoosier State. For each of the 106 Indiana Best Hikes sites, the succinct text describes the site, gives highway and trail directions, hours, facilities, contact address and other nearby points of interest plus a detailed map (3 maps in 1) that shows state location, highway map and site map with trails. In addition, each of the 106 best hikes features at least one trail and as many as three, in specific detail, with separate maps. The 495-page paperback is divided into three hiking regions: Northern, Central and Southern for ease of use. 70 black and white photos of the Indiana Best Hikes are interspersed within the text. The paperback guidebook measures 6 X 9. The 106 best hikes were selected not only because they represent some of the last great places in Indiana, but also because the best hikes are best since they are accessible year around and pose no great hiking challenge for the general public.
