Notes

Description
Quentin Durward: This novel, written in 1823, tells the story of Quentin Durward, a wandering Scottish nobleman who goes to France to make his fortune and ends up serving in the Scottish Guard of the French King, Louis XI. Quentin is as noble and true and chivalrous as Louis is sneaky, cruel, and out for number one, but together they make a pretty good team.
Description
The Talisman: The Talisman is Sir Walter Scott's tale of the Crusades, a tale of chivalry, of violence, of virtue, romance, and deceit.
Description
Castle Dangerous: In 1306, Douglas Castle was defended by Sir John de Walton, assisted by the young knight Aymer of Valence. They are supporters of the King of England, against the forces commanded by Robert Bruce and Sir James Douglas. A noble and beautiful Englishwoman, Augusta de Berkeley, promises her fortune and her hand to the knight who will hold the castle for a year and a day. The lady, who had taken refuge in the castle in disguise, runs the risk of being called a spy by Sir John. She is captured by Douglas who offers Sir John to exchange her for the surrender of the castle. Sir John is cruelly embarrassed when the order arrives, fortunately, to surrender the place. Augusta de Berkeley will be returned to her lover.
