This collection contains photostat copies of 2 letters sent to Elisha Chamberlain of Vernon Township, Washington County, Indiana. The first letter was written September 8, 1862 by Augustine Elliott and sent from Helena, Arkansas while he served in 24th Indiana Infantry Regiment. The second letter was written April 16, 1865 by John Smith Ruberson, a former resident of Washington County, and sent from Springfield, Illinois.
